It connects areas that regulate cognitive control and self-referential processing. This discovery could prove essential in assessing suicide risk, even before an attempt is made.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/neurophotonics\/graduate-students\/smrithi-sunil\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>SMRITHI SUNIL<\/b><\/span><\/a>(ENG&#8217;21,&#8217;21), a former doctoral student at BU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/neurophotonics\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>NEUROPHOTONICS CENTER<\/b><\/span><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/profile\/anna-devor-ph-d\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>ANNA DEVOR<\/b><\/span><\/a>, a professor of biomedical engineering, published an NIH-funded study in <i>Neuroimaging <\/i>in March 2023 examining the relationship between neural activity and cerebral blood flow after a stroke. Their findings indicate that neuroimaging could inform individualized treatment techniques and improve recovery.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/profile\/vasileios-zikopoulos-ph-d\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>VASILEIOS ZIKOPOULOS<\/b><\/span><\/a>, director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/brainlab\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>HUMAN SYSTEMS NEUROSCIENCE LABORATORY<\/b><\/span><\/a>;<b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/profile\/helen-barbas-ph-d\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>HELEN BARBAS<\/b><\/span><\/a>, professor of health sciences; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/profile\/arash-yazdanbakhsh\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>ARASH YAZDANBAKHSH<\/b><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"><b> <\/b><\/span>(GRS\u201905), director of the<b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/yazdan\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE &amp; VISION LABORATORY<\/b><\/span><\/a>, are building a digital brain that can simulate human brain activity, helping us understand which cortical mechanisms affect various disorders, including autism.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/biology\/people\/profiles\/james-f-a-traniello\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>JAMES TRANIELLO<\/b><\/span><\/a> (CAS\u201974), a professor of biology, studies more than 30 different species of ants\u2019 brains.
