Every day, Boston University researchers are powered by major grants that translate their ideas into practical applications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

BETTER ANTIBIOTICS<\/strong>
\nCARB-X<\/strong><\/a> (Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria Biopharmaceutical Accelerator), which operates out of the School of Law<\/strong>, received $22.8 million from the Italian government<\/strong> to advance new antibiotics, vaccines, and diagnostics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n

PULMONARY FIBROSIS<\/strong>
\nBoston University\u2019s Center for Regenerative Medicine<\/strong><\/a> and Boston Medical Center<\/strong>, supported by nearly $7.5 million from biopharmaceutical company GSK<\/strong>, have begun a partnership to better understand pulmonary fibrosis<\/a> and identify new drug targets that halt or slow its progression.<\/p>\n

\n

CHILDHOOD SUCCESS<\/strong>
\nThe School of Social Work<\/strong> received $1.1 million from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation<\/strong> to create the new Institute for Equity in Child Opportunity & Healthy Development<\/strong><\/a>, which will conduct research on the conditions children need to grow and thrive<\/a>.<\/p>\n

POLARIZATION AND BELIEF<\/strong>
\nA Wheelock College of Education & Human Development<\/strong>\u2013led team of researchers received close to $2 million from the Templeton World Charity Foundation<\/strong> to launch an international study of how children\u2019s beliefs form and change<\/a>. Their goal is to provide new insights into polarization and ways to mitigate it.<\/p>\n

QUANTUM ENCRYPTION<\/strong>
\nA multidisciplinary team led by Boston University researchers received a $2.8 million Growing Convergence Research award from the National Science Foundation<\/strong> to develop a physics-inspired approach to data security and privacy<\/a> in an increasingly digital world.<\/p>\n

SPIRITUAL GROWTH<\/strong>
\nThe new Nurturing Immigrant Children\u2019s Faith Experiences En Familia Program<\/strong>, led by the School of Theology<\/strong>, received a $1.25 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.<\/strong> to help foster the spiritual growth of children and teenagers<\/a>, particularly those from immigrant backgrounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
