From Guggenheim fellows studying space to early-career award winners aiming for equitable special education access, our faculty are one of a kind: <\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Six faculty were named 2025 Guggenheim fellows<\/a>: artist Lynne Allen<\/strong><\/a>, writer and scholar Louis Chude-Sokei<\/strong><\/a>, astrophysicist Merav Opher<\/strong><\/a>, physicist Anders W. Sandvik<\/strong><\/a>, and historians Bruce J. Schulman<\/strong><\/a> and Quinn Slobodian<\/strong><\/a>. This honor will advance their stellar\u2014and, in one case, interstellar\u2014research.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Bettini<\/strong><\/a>, Michelle Sander<\/strong><\/a>, and Zeba Wunderlich<\/strong><\/a> have all received a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers<\/a> for their respective areas of study: inequitable access to special education teachers, ultrafast lasers and optical imaging systems, and how gene activation is encoded in DNA.<\/p>\n

Biologist Lynne Chantranupong<\/strong><\/a> has been named a 2025 Sloan Research Fellow<\/a> for her work investigating how brain cells remain healthy over a lifetime, as well as how neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson\u2019s and Alzheimer\u2019s disrupt them.<\/p>\n

\n

Professor Denise M. Sloan<\/strong> <\/a>received the Robert S. Laufer Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement<\/a> from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies for her work on the development of new therapies for people with PTSD.<\/p>\n

\n

Engineer Alexander A. Green<\/strong><\/a> has received the National Institutes of Health\u2019s Director\u2019s Transformative Research Award<\/a> for his study of the forces cells enact on one another, which may someday transform cell-based cancer treatment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
